Hi, I'm Dave.....

I was introduced to golf by my high school Sunday School teacher. Interested but otherwise occupied, I was re-introduced at age twenty-four, while my wife and I were living in an apartment building with several similar aged couples. I was invited to play, provided with borrowed clubs and enjoyed myself so thoroughly that I immediately purchased a brand new set of clubs. For the next several weeks the same foursome played at Ethelwood Golf Course (which was later plowed under to make way for an I-95 beltway). When scheduling made more play with the same partners a problem, I showed up at the course anyway and hooked up with agreeable twosomes or threesomes.

My job situation soon intervened with a move, and scheduling allowed me to play twice a week (this was the days before children). Before long another move, the emerging career, the purchase of a house and the coming of three children curtailed my golf activities, as I had to reset my priorities. I was reduced to occasional play, which was just fine with me at the time.

Well, now the children are grown, married and producing grandchildren; four with another on the way. Career changes have occurred and I find myself with the time and interest to be here, behind my keyboard and camera, and on the golf course again. I'm in the midst of figuring out my handicap (which could be my swing and impatience).

I like golf. No, no, you don't understand. I really like golf. It's the one of the few things I really enjoy being outdoors for. The surroundings are unbeatable; always beautiful. Do you ever wonder if there will be golf courses in heaven? I expect there will be.

I believe there are priorities in life. I have always needed to take care of my money. I don't like spending more than I have to on optional items, which I consider golf equipment  to be (I like golf, but I won't die without it). I suppose there are lots of folks like me; maybe you're one of them. Hopefully I can provide you with solid, credible input into your decisions and purchases. My course reviews will specialize in venues you can play for less than $50.00.

I also find reading about golf to be enjoyable, too. I read about golf for relaxation, research, or for self-improvement (trying to improve my game). So I'll be writing reviews on books, too.
